Model
Monk strap
Rumored to have been developed by an Alpine monk in the 15th century and worn in all European monasteries, this style was popularized in the 1920s. Unbeknown to many, a Monk with a strap features the fit and construction similar to a Derby. With open quarters and a full cut upper and tongue, Monk straps (single and double buckle) are extraordinarily comfortable on the foot. However, they won't offer the same level of adjustment, due to the absence of laces.
Manufacture
Cement
Cemented Construction: A shoe construction in which the upper of a shoe is cemented, rather than stitched, to the sole of the shoe. Cement construction results in a lighter, more flexible shoe.
Leather
Calf full grain
Full grain leather is, ‘a fine quality material where the leather’s natural pore structure or “grain” is healthy, and is left untouched. This material is tanned with aniline dyes to bring out its natural characteristics and depth of colour when shoes are finisched and polished.
